THOUGHTS ABOUT THE CS:GO UPDATE, 13.03

First of all, I think this is a good update, but with a dangerous charater.
I want to talk about a few thoughts that came up when reading the patch notes.

The meanwhile extreme famous AUG got a new increased price tag, it returns to $3,300, where it has been before.

The AUG is a massive perk for CT's on certain positions, like for example on Dust 2, bombsite B where you can sit onsite at the single box and zoom in between the double box and the plateau box, this angle could be used with a sniper rifle and is extremely good with the AUG as you can stand onsite, have a zoom function and an automatic weapon, to defend the spot when it comes down to a rush.
I still think that the price does not deter too much, we will see the AUG for sure again, especially for certain positions, the price is still affordable, the difference comes just at the cost of a flashbang.
The price could be even higher, even with $3,500 the risk is negligible.

The next weapon that got a change is the M4A1-S, which now got five bullets more, that means 25 in the magazine, and 75 overall.
The little brother of the M4A1, which has 30 bullets and 90 in reserve, has a more comfortable spray pattern and is easier to control.
It remains to be seen, how significant the change will be, as for now, the CT side did grab the AUG more often than the M4.

Next up is a small change, which will have a tremendous impact: The flashbang assist.
When throwing a flashbang for your teammate to peak an angle you'll get an assist if a kill drops in your favour.
At first, I liked the idea because you hardly see the effects of utility usage in matchmaking and casual play. With this update, utility usage gets rewarded and noticeable.

On the other hand, it's free information for your enemy, and the opponent now knows that there is at least one more player to fight against in the near area.
Imagine you're in a two vs two, on the T-side and attacking a spot, a CT does flash his teammate in and kills your mate, based on the flashbang assist and the death notice you'll now know, that the 2nd CT is also still in the area.
Overall this will have a huge — and dangerous — impact on the game, seen from a competitive point of view.

So far, I like the changes, Valve is keeping up the weapon diversity and does keep the game changing. Teams have to find a new approach to the game, and the meta does shift.
The economic change is going to cause that you can buy more often and it does give an advantage to the team which is down.
There will be fewer comebacks, but more fairness?
I don't think that the game will be less exciting to watch, but we will have to wait for what is going to happen on the server and how this concludes in the end.

In times of Astralis leaving scorched earth among their feet, as no other team stands a chance against the Danish dynamite, I think those changes will be exciting to watch and maybe even a little bit necessary to give contenders a boost.

It does give Team Liquid, Na'Vi, or maybe even MIBR more room to present a challenge to Astralis.

All in all, we have to wait for the field test on the server, and I'm excited to see what is going to happen in the upcoming weeks and months.
